Vale ex-LSRP AC Bevan "Squiz" Taylor - HMAS Canberra 1987-1988 |
Bevan in 1987 Bevan passed away after a long illness in Queensland on the 11 July 2010, Bevan served in HMAS Canberra 1987-89 and was a proud TOPJACK. I was in contact with Bevan over the past 3 years and he discussed the great times he had in the Navy and the wonderful memories of his friends and ship mates, the best years of his life were in the Navy he proudly told me. Bevan won a battle with Federal Government regarding veterans under 60 after being removed from an RSL Village because he was under 55. There was no supervised care for Vets under 55 even if they are TPI. Bevan took on the Federal Minister with the assistance of Derrin Hinch and Melbourne media and won.TPI veterans under 55 now have hundreds of places to stay Australia wide originally with only1 avalable in NSW. He then became heavily involved with RSL and AAPVA trying to help others that have medical problems from Gulf war. His funeral service took place at Dalby in Queensland on the 16th of July 2010. Rest in Peace Bevan, Many thanks for being a great shipmate with a flair for being a scallywag with a greatl sense of humour.
